Quality Engineer

with a hands-on mindset. In the role of Quality Engineer, you work continuously to monitor and improve the products supplied by SMART Photonics from both a technical and process angle. Control of product quality goes through a wide range of activities, including assessing purchasing parts from suppliers and our own production and business processes. Analysing feedback from your own organization is an important aspect that then needs to be converted into actions. You will part of the Engineering department and as such report to the Manager Engineering.

What do we expect?

  • – Bachelor or master degree in physics, mechanical engineering, materials or other relevant technical background
  • – 3 + years proven quality background, working in a manufacturing / production or product development environment
  • – Proven track record in continuous improvement and FMEA (moderator) experience
  • – Having a Six Sigma and / or Lean degree (Green Belt or Black Belt), as well as having ISO experience is considered as a plus
  • – Can express itself perfectly (verbal and in writing) in the English language
  • – Being able to express itself in Dutch and German is a plus
  • – Understand how to extract information from data with statistical knowledge and Minitab software
  • – Excellent analytical, conceptual and communication skills
  • – Self-motivating, results driven with attention to detail and a passion for quality

Responsibilities and duties:

  • – Identifies operational and quality improvements areas and defines activities to execute improvement activities
  • – Lead quality related problem solving and root cause analysis during design and manufacturing to find the root cause(s)
  • – Collect relevant data from the various related sources
  • – Internal contact point when it comes to quality
  • – SPC: create framework and give support to process engineers on the implementation of SPC
  • – OCAP: create framework and install a quality insurance process with respect to issues OCAP and quality of wafers (link to incident report)
  • – Incident process: create framework, lead quality assessment of impacted wafers
  • – External Quality Complaints: Create framework, create complaint handling procedure and follow-up the initiated complaints internally as well as with customers
  • – Change Control Process Support
