SMART Photonics, TNO and PhotonJobs bring the future of light to life at GLOW 2026

5 November 2026

Eindhoven, 5 November 2026 – Anyone looking up at the 55-metre-high façade of the Hooghuis during GLOW 2026 will see how light can transform public space into art.

From light art to sustainable data networks

Created by Belgian artist Antoine Goldschmidt of studio Magicstreet, TRIPLE POINT uses mist, lasers, and colour to reveal the physical properties of light on a monumental scale. It transforms the flat surface of the Hooghuis building into a three dimensional space that appears to move and change shape. Behind this artistic spectacle lies a similar principle powering photonic chip technology: using particles of light (photons) instead of electricity to send and receive information. As demand for data and smart technologies grows, photonic chips can contribute to faster, more precise and more energy-efficient applications in areas such as AI, data centres, healthcare, telecommunications and advanced sensing.

Ton van Mol, Managing Director at TNO: “The same light that creates wonder on the streets of Eindhoven during GLOW is transforming how information moves around the world. By harnessing light to enable faster, more energy-efficient data networks, we are unlocking the potential of photonic chips for the benefit of society.”

Udette Kirsch, Chief Human Resource Officer at SMART Photonics: “This year’s GLOW theme, CONNECT, reflects both how photonic chips use light to connect the world and the collaborative strength that makes Eindhoven a leading global hub for technology and innovation. We are proud to support an event that celebrates our vibrant community while showing how locally developed light technology shapes the future.”
