To help in achieving our goal, we are expanding the team and hiring a Senior R&D Scientist.

Job description 

As a Photonics Building Blocks Developer, you design, optimize and release our Integrated Photonics building blocks to broaden our Process Design Kit (PDK) and offer our customers multiple options to finetune their chips. This work is done in close collaboration with our characterization and processing engineers.

Other tasks include:

• Develop and adapt our Building Blocks and compact models to be offered in the SMART Photonics PDK;
• Understanding our customer needs and able to translate them to useful, manufacturable, and qualitative devices;
• Collaboration with the R&D team, our engineers and scientists, and cross sectorial teams involved, such as Product Management;
• Contribute to high-quality reports, publications and if applicable, patents.
• Participation in improvement projects, 8D’s and/or FMEA’s.

We are looking for a person who has /is:

• A PhD in (Integrated) Photonics plus at least 4 years of industry experience OR a Master’s degree in a relevant field with at least 8 years of experience;
• Strong affinity with semiconductor fabrication technologies and products;
• Solid analytical and creative thinking skills;`
• A good understanding of design and modelling software (e.g. Lumerical, Klayout, Synopsys, Nazca, etc);
• Good communication skills in English, able to work with different departments;
• Proactive and able to roll up sleeves when challenges arise;
