Senior R&D Scientist – PIC Characterization

We are an Indium Phosphide foundry specialized in Photonic Integrated Circuits. Our technology allows to uniquely combine semiconductor lasers and amplifiers, detectors and high-speed modulators, to create state-of-the-art solutions for optical communications and diverse sensing applications. Ranging from communication, automotive Lidar to medical applications, helping to solve major societal challenges.

To achieve our ambitious goals, we are looking for a Senior R&D Scientist, to work on PIC Characterization.

The role:

If you are passionate about understanding the principles of Test & Measurement and working in the characterization of Photonic Integrated Circuits, this might the challenge you are looking for!

You will have an important role within our Research & Development team, by intensively collaborating with our scientists, direct R&D colleagues, product management, and other involved colleagues and departments.

You will have to characterize and understand our building blocks in order to broaden our Process Design Kit and offer our customers multiple options to finetune their chips, bringing our innovation to life.

Your tasks will also include:

• Test and validate new designs and Building Blocks in our Measurement Setup;
• Analyze the results and report to the R&D team;
• Align with team, and cross sectorial departments, such as Commerce, Test & Measurement, Technical Project Leads;
• Contribute to high-quality reports, publications and if applicable, patents.
• Participation in improvement projects, 8D’s and/or FMEA’s.

We are looking for a person who has /is:

• A PhD in (Integrated) Photonics plus at least 4 years of industry experience OR a Master’s degree in a relevant field with at least 8 years of experience;
• Strong affinity and experience in PIC characterization;
• A good understanding of design software is a plus (Cadence, Klayout, Synopsys, etc);
• Good communicator and able to work with other departments;
• A natural independent drive to get things done – you take ownership of your own work;
